I am an Armenian-American artist and amateur archivist based in Los Angeles with an obsession for estate sales, the people who run them, track them, shop them, and most of all, the lives left behind inside them.
Everything's for Sale (2019 - Present) is an ongoing archival study built from thousands of domestic objects, photographs, home videos, and personal ephemera collected from 200+ sales across America and rooted in Los Angeles. The project is defined by the lives who pass through it: immigrants, multi-generational families, diaspora communities, and everyday Americans. Piecing pasts together helps me understand my own. For each viewer, stories develop from fragments. Banal objects become entirely personal.
Though the project started with a UCLA thesis, I can't stop collecting stories. I am currently building toward a professional working archive, developing a standardized process for digitizing and preserving tapes, images, and audio recordings using archival grade equipment. My goal is to create a functional living archive that treats everyday material culture with the same care a museum would.
